The Joseph Bordogna Forum

OAS Academic Advising
Academic planning encompasses a range of topics, including selecting a major, registering for classes, and defining career objectives. While the ultimate decision rests with you, the student, the Penn Engineering undergraduate advising system is designed to support and guide you as you make these important choices. During the Fall and Spring semesters, in-person walk-in advising is available Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 109 Towne Building. Advancing Women in Engineering (AWE) Undergraduate Summer Research Opportunity at Penn Engineering
AWE is pleased to offer an initiative that supports undergraduate students pursuing summer research experiences. Applicants are required to submit a personal statement, a resume, and a faculty recommendation letter. All application materials must be received by March 2nd,2026. Girls Code the World – High School & College Internships
Girls Code the World is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide intentional, inclusive opportunities for girls & women in STEM that inspire confidence, foster a continuum of mentorship, and spark lifelong curiosity. We are currently accepting applications for our 2026 internship cohort, open to both high school and college students. The application deadline is February 1. The Siddall Sheffield Scholarship
The Siddall Sheffield Scholarship recognises academic excellence and covers the full tuition fee for a one-year Engineering Master’s plus a stipend of £18,000. Funding is confirmed for future years, with one scholarship available per year. Applications for the 2026 award are now open, with a deadline to apply by Tuesday, January 13th, 2026 (5 pm UK time), and final decisions shared in March 2026.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Siddall Sheffield Scholarship, students must:
- Be a US citizen who has formerly studied in the US, a non-UK resident, and not lived in the UK
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field before departure to the UK
- Have a preferred GPA of 3.7 or higher
- Be successfully accepted to study one of our one-year full-time Master’s programmes in the Faculty of Engineering by the time the Scholarship is awarded.

President’s Innovation Prize
The President’s Innovation Prize(link is external) will provide a graduating Penn senior, or team of graduating seniors, $100,000 (plus a $50,000 living stipend per team member) to envision and implement an innovative, commercial venture that makes a positive difference in the world.
The competition is open to full-time undergraduates in good academic standing in the Engineering, Nursing, SAS (including LPS), or Wharton undergraduate divisions who have completed at least three-quarters of the credits needed for their baccalaureate degree and who are scheduled to graduate in December 2025, May 2026, or August 2026.
The President’s Innovation Prize is jointly administered by the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships and the Penn Center for Innovation. This year’s application deadline is January 21, 2026. A winner will be announced in April. Visit this website for more information

Your resume must be in hard copy form in order to be reviewed. This session is designed to last 15 minutes maximum, providing a general overview.

Summer 2026 Internship Opportunity for Undergraduate/Graduate Students & Alumni
On behalf of the faculty at the Computational Health Informatics Program (CHIP) at Boston Children’s Hospital & Harvard Medical School, we would like to extend an invitation for you to apply for the upcoming Summer 2026 internship (initial deadline of February 9).
Our research at CHIP and the various faculty labs explores the intersection of medicine/bioinformatics, public health, the social sciences, and computation within a variety of fields such as AI/machine learning, natural language processing/LLMs, genomics, population health, regulatory science, technology development, data science-driven social justice/political science, and more.
Our faculty have been recognized by and previously advised various institutions, including the White House, the CDC, the US Department of State, USAID, NASA, and many others. Additionally, CHIP has established partnerships with companies like Uber, Lyft, Quest Diagnostics, and Eli Lily and have developed platforms, such as pioneering/inventing the first personally controlled health records and APIs mandated by law, that have been widely adopted by Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and others.
Additionally, CHIP graduates hold leadership positions in academia and industry, both nationally and globally, that provide students access to an extensive alumni network for their professional development.
