Pan-Asian American Community House (PAACH)’s 25th Anniversary Speaker Event “A Fireside Chat with Award

Join the Pan-Asian American Community House (PAACH) for a special fireside chat with Richard Lui—award-winning journalist, MSNBC/NBC News anchor, and documentary filmmaker—as part of the PAACH 25th Anniversary Celebration. Facilitated by Karu Kozuma, Vice Provost for University Life, this dynamic conversation will explore the intersections of identity, storytelling, and leadership.

Dinner and book signing to follow the discussion. The first 50 attendees will receive a free copy of Richard’s book, distributed at the end of the event.

2025 Frontiers of Energy Poster Session

Join us for the 5th Annual Frontiers of Energy Research Poster Session, co-hosted by the Vagelos Institute for Energy Science and Technology (VIEST) and the Vagelos Integrated Program in Energy Research (VIPER). Come learn about amazing energy research from undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral researchers from across Penn’s campus.
Present a Poster: All Penn students and postdocs involved in energy research are invited to present a poster. This is a great opportunity to meet other energy researchers, showcase and get feedback on your work, and learn about different energy research happening across campus! The Weingarten Center 

The Weingarten Center assesses students’ needs, makes appropriate referrals, and helps students navigate campus resources. They offer expertise in developing effective study skills and strategies as students pursue academic goals and rise to their own potential. They help students develop communication, problem-solving, and self-advocacy skills.​ They encourage students to prioritize their mental health and well-being and make time for self-care. ​They strive to destigmatize disability, normalize asking for help, and support accommodations that remove barriers and level the playing field.

Penn Prevention Center (PVP) -Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)

October is recognized as Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), a time to support survivors, raise awareness, and promote resources for prevention and support. In honor of DVAM, Penn Violence Prevention (PVP) is hosting a variety of events to promote education about the issue and share resources available to those impacted.

Our annual “How to Support a Survivor” workshop is a great training for student leaders (board members, student workers, captains) to learn how to support a friend after experiencing violence, know how to effectively respond to someone in crisis, or even improve general interpersonal skills! Dinner will be provided.

Trauma-informed yoga is back! Join us on Fridays in October for yoga with local instructor Nicole Pollard! Sessions are held on October 24 and 31. Beginner-friendly classes are hosted in Pottruck Studio 414. All Penn community members are welcome!

Funding opportunities for hi-tech projects & ventures – APPLICATIONS OPEN

Looking for funding for your tech project or venture?

Penn Engineering is pleased to offer funding opportunities for high-tech projects and venture development. We are soliciting proposals for projects and venture concepts that might develop into companies, and these funds are available to help:

Berkman Opportunity Fund ($500 or $1,000 per project) The Berkman Opportunity Fund provides support for students (or teams of students) with innovative ideas that might turn into products and companies.

Miller Innovation Fellowship ($15,000 per venture) Miller Innovation Fellowships are designed to allow students (or teams of students) who have made use of Penn’s innovation & entrepreneurship resources to further develop ventures based on high-tech products & services and to have focused capital and advising resources to explore a venture.

Hiring Engineers for “Orble”: A Hardtech Food Automation Startup

Munch Industries is a pre-seed robotics startup building machines to revolutionize the food automation industry. It is co-founded by UPenn students Nastassja Kuznetsova (CompE, ’24) and Corina Chen (MechE M&T, ’28). Their first product is “Orble”, a fully au’tea’matic boba machine that delivers customizable boba drinks within a compact 3×3 ft unit. It is set to launch on UPenn’s campus in the Spring of 2026.
