Undergraduate Scholars Programs

Ben Franklin Scholars (BFS-SEAS)

The Benjamin Franklin Scholars program in the School of Engineering and Applied Science (BFS- SEAS) fosters a unique interdisciplinary and hands-on approach to education, particularly beneficial for Engineering students. By encouraging engagement with the liberal arts and sciences alongside in-depth Engineering studies, BFS-SEAS aims to broaden perspectives and equip students with a holistic understanding of the world. BFS-SEAS students may participate in seminars exploring topics outside their core field, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills applicable across disciplines. This intra-disciplinary approach aims to enrich students’ education, allowing them to integrate humanities and social sciences into their Engineering practice, fostering innovation and a deeper understanding of the societal impact of technology.
