Ben Sailors
Hey everyone and welcome to Penn! My name is Ben, and I am a sophomore studying Materials Science and Engineering! My hometown is a small city in Ohio, the land of corn and astronauts. Although I started off applying to Penn CD, I quickly found a home in MSE and would love to talk to anyone about choosing a major. As well, I took a gap year between HS and college to do some industrial R&D and participated in PFP before arriving.
At Penn, I lived in Ware this previous year and am actually staying as an RA this semester (roll Speakman 3rd floor !!). I spend a lot of time outside the classroom in student government, as both the VP of Finances for our Class Board and a UA rep. Additionally, I am involved in some consulting organizations and public policy and service fellowships.
Please feel free to reach out to me about anything at all! I absolutely love engineering and hope to see y’all at some MSE Makerspace events (open to everyone to build awesome things!) I can’t wait to meet you!
Laila Norford
My name is Laila and I am a rising senior majoring in Bioengineering with minors in Computer Science and Bioethics. I have been involved in research since my first year at Penn and am a Rachleff Scholar. After graduating, I plan to get a PhD in Computational Biology in pursuit of a research career. Outside of classes and research, I am a Teaching Assistant for introductory computer science, a member of the Advancing Women in Engineering Student Advisory Board, and a volunteer for educational outreach events with Society of Women Engineers. I spend much of my time with the Penn Band as the Clarinet Section Leader. I am also a volunteer for Penn Leads the Vote and an active member of Penn’s LGBT community as a member of PennAces. In my free time, I like to read, play card games with my friends, and take walks on the Schuylkill River Trail and into Center City.

Hi! I’m Jon, and I’m a second year student from Baton Rouge, Louisiana studying systems science & engineering. I’m interested in applying data science and decision modeling to marketing and business operations. On campus, I’m involved in the Engineering Deans’ Advisory Board, Wharton Analytics Fellows, Global Research & Consulting, and MUSE Case Team. I’m also a part of the Benjamin Franklin Scholars program. In my free time, I’m always scavenging the internet for cheap plane tickets to foreign countries and collecting panda merchandise.
Sarah Ho
Hi! I’m a senior in MEAM, also working on a master’s on robotics. On campus, I’m involved with the Penn Band and research, and I love to explore the independent bookstores around West Philly. I’m spending this summer in Los Angeles interning at an electric boat startup. Looking forward to welcoming you to Penn!
Andrew Lukashchuk
I am a member of the class of 2025 at Penn Engineering and am currently studying Computer Science. I went to a Catholic high school in northeast Philadelphia and took AP classes in high school. I played soccer, ran track, played saxophone in the concert band, tutored in the National Honor Society, and was a member of the future engineers club in high school. In my first year here at Penn, I lived in Hill College House. I am unsure about what I want to do post-graduation, but I am considering matriculating in computer science or data science or pursuing an MBA. I run track & field here at Penn and am involved in the social Greek life scene. I want to become more involved in different clubs next year as a sophomore in order to branch out and meet new people and learn new things. I am bilingual and speak Ukrainian in addition to English.
