Hey, I am Hunter and am a rising Junior in MEAM (but started CD). I am from Lancaster, PA and am currently doing an internship with an RF cable/connector/assembly manufacturer at home as a manufacturing engineering intern. Here at Penn I am part of Penn Aerospace Club (PAC) as part of the high-altitude balloon team and also the Wharton Undergraduate Energy Group. Outside of classes, I am really into tinkering with hobby projects and playing disc golf with friends, listening to podcasts in the background, and trying to get back into running. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about MEAM/engineering or if you just want to chat about disc golf, podcasts, or manufacturing stuff.
My name is Laila Barakat Norford and I am a junior majoring in Bioengineering and minoring in Bioethics. I am in the Rachleff Scholars program and have been involved in research since spring of my first year. I currently conduct systems and computational biology research into cell differentiation in organoids. Post-graduation, I intended to get a PhD in pursuit of a research career. Outside of academics, I am very involved in performing art and I play clarinet in the Penn Band and I play violin in Penn Chamber. I am also the Secretary of the Penn Band. I am a member of Penn Aces and other LGBTQ+ organizations on campus. I also volunteer with several political organizations and candidates, and I volunteer with Penn Leads the Vote to register voters on campus. In my free time, I like to read, play card games, and go hiking and spend time outdoors.
My name is Rosangelica and I am going to be a sophomore in CBE. I’m from northern Bergen county New Jersey (right outside New York City), but I have lived in several different parts of the US and also in London, England for a few years. I did the AWE preorientation program last year. Currently, I am on the educational outreach committee for SWE and I also am part of UPenn CHAARG which is a club on campus focused on women’s health and fitness. I love hiking and running (I ran track and cross country in high school), and I love the beach. Out of school, I lead the marketing team for a startup company focused on transforming the college counselling industry. I am so excited to meet you all this summer and welcome you to Penn!
Hi! I’m Christina Kim, a senior from Newark, DE studying CBE. On the academic side, I do research in a CBE/BE lab, work as a tutor and TA, and intend on pursuing a PhD after graduation. Outside of class, I co-coordinate an afterschool science program for 3 schools in West Philly, serve as president for my a cappella group, and recently became treasurer of Out in STEM. Oh, and sometimes I dabble in theatre. When I’m not running around between classes and extracurriculars, I also enjoy drinking tea and playing the ukulele (badly). Get in touch if you want to talk about CBE, research, being LGBT+ in Engineering, or just want to chat!
I’m a junior studying CS from a suburb of San Francisco, California. At Penn I’m involved in Women in CS (WiCS), club volleyball, and Alpha Omega Epsilon (STEM sorority), and I’ve done a few semesters of CS research. In my free time I like trying new restaurants and going for runs on the Schuylkill.
