Emily Jiang

Congratulations and welcome to Penn! I’m Emily Jiang and I’m from New York, growing up between Manhattan and Long Island. I’m currently studying bioengineering with an interest in biomedical devices and medical technologies. Outside of classes, I’m a research assistant in the Murray Lab, where I get to explore genetics. I’m also involved in BMES (Biomedical Engineering Society), which is a great community for anyone in BE, and DJ@Penn, where I’ve been learning how to DJ and planning events throughout the school year. In my free time, I’m diving into guitar and photography as a creative outlet from the academic load of school. I’ve also been exploring Philly more with my roommates (one from each of the four schools!) so feel free to reach out with any questions!

Sanya Kejriwal

Hello! My name is Sanya Kejriwal and I’m studying bioengineering on the pre-med track. I’m originally from the suburbs of Seattle, Washington. On campus, I’m involved in clinical research, volunteer work, and serve as an EMT on Penn MERT. I’m especially passionate about using engineering to improve patient care and expand access to healthcare. Moving to the East Coast was a big change for me, but I’ve loved exploring everything Philly has to offer. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, discovering new neighborhoods, and going on walks in search of the best iced latte. I also love to bake and unwind with a good book—historical fiction is my favorite genre!

Nishant Nayak

Hi everyone! I’m Nishant, an undergraduate student with a love for all things physics and computer science, especially where they meet. I’m extremely interested in astrophysics, machine learning, and using code to explore the big questions about the universe. I’m pursuing both Physics and Computer Science under the VIPER program here at Penn. I also love making science and tech more fun and accessible through outreach. At campus, I’m involved in TEDxPenn, SOUP and other such clubs, alongside summer research and a hefty lot of classes. Super excited to help you navigate your journey; ask me anything, whether it’s about classes to take, cool clubs and projects to do, or just surviving your first Penn midterms (trust me, been there!)

Annie Gao

My name is Annie Gao, and I am a junior studying Mechanical Engineering (MEAM) from Rockville, Maryland! I am also pursuing an accelerated master’s in MEAM concentrating in Energy, Fluids, and Thermal Systems. On campus, I am on the WUAC board, TA for a machining and design course, and involved with research. This summer, I will be working on satellites at Iridium through the Brooke Owens Fellowship and plan to go into aerospace. I love running and have done multiple half marathons with my friends since moving to Philadelphia. I also enjoy lifting, baking, and traveling, and am happy to talk about any of the above.

Bonnie Chen

Hello! I’m Bonnie, a senior in VIPER studying Materials Science and Engineering and Physics as well as pursuing a Master’s in Physics. I’m from Princeton, NJ and attended a public high school there. Throughout my time at Penn so far, I’ve been involved in Pan-Asian Dance Troupe, Penn Dance, Science Olympiad at Penn, Physics/Materials research, Society of Women in Engineering, and I was previously a CIS 2400 (Intro to Computer Systems) TA, Materials Lab TA, and Physics 0171 TA. I’m also the Dance Arts Council Chair, so feel free to ask me anything about performing arts at Penn! In my free time, I enjoy going to dance workshops, watching dramas, playing video games, and exploring Philly! Please reach out if you have any questions about anything that I’ve mentioned. I’m so excited to get to meet you!
