Changing Your Major/Curriculum
NGSS Related Updates: Course numbering throughout the Undergraduate Student Handbook reflect transition to the new NGSS system. 3-digit course numbers that remain reflect a now inactive course that did not transition to the 4-digit course number. Other updates include edits to processes and additional links to resources.
Changing or declaring your engineering major is a simple process. You will need to complete the appropriate form (form entitled: Declare/Update Field of Study). You should complete the form following the prompted instructions. You will need to meet with your current academic advisor as well as the Undergraduate Chair of the program into which you are moving.
The entering year determines the specific requirements to statisfy the BAS or BSE degree. The entering year is determined from the catalog year that you entered Penn. Students who entered Penn prior to Fall 2020 will not be allowed to switch into the “Entered Fall 2020 or later” Curriculum. There will be no exceptions.
Students may not declare Digital Media Design (DMD) or Networked and Social Systems Engineering (NETS). Students must complete the application process for these limited enrollment majors.
